  • Farscape Christmas e-Cards
    16th December, 2003
Firstly, it's time for me to apologise for my tardiness in updating this site - again. Real Life gets in the way like a very large wall with large spikes and a big "Keep Out" sign with ravenous guard dogs - or something. I am currently working on a way to assign a couple more webmasters so that at the very least the site news can be kept up to date (can't believe I've missed updating it with the news of the possibility of a Farscape mini-series). So, once again: I'm sorry (okay Glitz?). It will probably be the new year before the new system and other webmasters are set up, so until then, please skidaddle over to the forums, where you will find lots of news thanks to Eve and others (thanks Eve and others!).

Now the good news... I have added a new feature to the site. You can now send Farscape::TormentedSpace e-cards! For the moment you are limited to sending Christmas cards, but in the future I will be adding different themes. The Christmas cards are based on screen caps taken from the nearest Farscape ever came to a Christmas episode - 'Terra Firma'. You can find the new e-card page here. Enjoy!

Finally, I want to offer my particular (and sincere) apologies to ScorpSik, the talented artist who has contributed a lot of her artwork to this site, and whose new artwork I have yet to scan in and post on the site. (ScorpSik - more of your artwork will be up soon!) If you haven't already seen her new pictures on other sites, it's worth looking forward to.

    Merry Frelling Christmas!
(I bet there isn't a Farscape site on the web that doesn't use that phrase this season, groan...)

    An Evening with Gigi Edgley
    4th September, 2003
No, sorry, it's not an exclusive competition in which the winner gets to spend an evening alone with Gigi Edgley (calm down at the back). The next best thing, though: Starfury are holding "An Evening with Gigi Edgley" at Page's Bar in Westminster, London, on Saturday 13th September. Tickets are on sale for £10. Page's Bar can be found at 75 Page Street, London SW1 - for a map and directions, see here. The following evening Kulture Shock are running another "Evening with Gigi Edgley" in Norwich, details of which can be found here. Many thanks to Cardelia for this information.

    Ben Browder in CSI Miami
    10th June, 2003
As many of you will already know, Ben Browder recently appeared in an episode of CSI Miami in the states. He plays a bouncer in a nightclub (in which there is a "DJ Scorpius", apparently), and the episode, 'Tinder Box' - the 22nd episode of season 1 - also features Robert Beltran of Star Trek: Voyager. The episode can be seen here in the UK in just over a fortnight, on Saturday 28th June, at 9pm on Five. Typically, I'm on holiday that weekend, so somebody please remind me to record it...

Farscape Region 2 DVD 4.3 Inlay Artwork Missing
    1st June, 2003
As some of you have already noticed and mentioned on the messageboard both here and over at the BBC, the new Farscape DVD - 4.3, Region 2, containing Unrealized Reality, Kansas, Terra Firma and Twice Shy - is defective. Open up either of the DVD cases and you will find that the inside inlay - which usually contains the chapter contents and additional photography - is completely blank. Yes, this was a printing error, and no, there are no plans to correct it; there will be no discounts or corrected replacements, nor are there any plans for a second run of 'corrected' copies. This is, of course, a great shame for all of us who have been faithfully collecting the DVDs for the past three years. I thus e-mailed the Contender Group (the DVD distributors for the UK) and I suggested to them that, seeing as the artwork was already created just not printed, they might want to put it up on their site (naturally, in a failed but attempted coup, I volunteered to put it up here :) ). That way, those people with high quality printers could download the proper inlays and print them off for themselves, which seems to me the ideal solution. This is the reply I received from the (always very helpful) Lee Binding:

    Keith -

Yes it was a printing error, and there are no plans to reprint the sleeves. I do like your idea that the inners should be downloaded, although this isn't the ideal solution, and if we are going to do it, we should be doing it properly.

Thanks for your kind words and a personal apology that we did drop the ball so close to the end.

    With thanks and kind regards

    Lee Binding
    Product Manager
    The Contender Entertainment Group

I don't exactly know what he means by "if we are going to do it, we should be doing it properly" - perhaps just that if they do it they will do it on their own site with full instructions (as opposed to letting other Farscape sites run the art - oh well, worth a try). I don't know if they will actually get around to doing it, though - my guess is that it will depend on how many complaints they receive - so maybe others should e-mail them and show their support for the idea too if they are interested. The best e-mail address to use is feedback@contendergroup.com.

A Thank You from the Farscape Crew to the Fans
    31st May, 2003
Over at the SaveFarscape site, Tiriel of the Docu-dot team has posted a small video she created of short interviews she conducted with Ben Browder, Claudia Black and David Kemper, in which they each gave a thank you message to the fans. The video is 10MB, but you can download a 1MB version on the Download Tier of this site. Eve has been kind enough to transcribe the video for those of you who can't download it for whatever reason. You can find her transcription here.

Farscape Wins Best Show at 2003 Saturn Awards
    19th May, 2003
Fantastic news - Farscape scooped the "Best Show" award at this year's Saturn Awards, which were held yesterday, 18th May 2003. Sadly, neither Ben Browder nor Claudia Black won awards for their respective categories for Best Actor or Best Actress (a travesty), but that Farscape continues to win awards despite its cancellation can only help the campaign to get a fifth season. Congratulations to all of the Farscape crew for winning (and deserving) the award. I'll post more news on the awards when I get it.
(A big thank you to Denda for passing on this news to me, which was originally posted on the Frell Me Dead boards over at SaveFarscape.)

Farscape Region 2 DVD 4.3 out today
    19th May, 2003
Farscape DVD 4.3 was released in the UK today, containing four uncut episodes: 'Unrealized Reality', 'Kansas', 'Terra Firma' and 'Twice Shy' (meaning only one dud out of the four...). The corresponding videos should also now be on sale. Extra features include a Wayne Pygram interview, make-up tests, deleted scenes, Farscape Facts, a gallery, and Moya's Menu. For information on the release of the next two volumes, please see the Merchandise section of the site.
If you would like to review this DVD or any of the episodes it contains - or any other episodes or DVDs, please drop me a line.

    New Save Farscape Information
    1st May, 2003
Eve has been kind enough to post some very comprehensive information on the latest Save Farscape developments. To see here post, visit the Tormented Space Save Farscape forum. Thanks Eve!

    Welcome to Tormented Space
    16th April, 2003
Welcome to Tormented Space, a new site dedicated to Farscape. Yes, it's probably a bit late off the bat, what with the show having been cancelled by the evil Sci-Fi channel, but hey. Anyway, a big thank you to Dani Moure of Farscape World - probably the best Farscape site on the web - for allowing me to use some of his screen capture images for the Tormented Space banner and the "To Be Continued" pic. Be sure to check out his site if you haven't already.

If for some bizarre reason you have ended up at this site and have no clue what Farscape is - well, lucky you, you have 88 episodes of one of the best TV series ever made yet to discover. Forget the usual stigmatisms attached to sci-fi programmes - this is no geeky Trekkie cheese-fest. Think Moonlighting and Northern Exposure meets Star Wars, and you're part way there. If you really are new to Farscape, I suggest you check out the trailer and the story so far.

The purpose of this site isn't to try to compete with the excellent FS sites already out there (check out the links page for some of them - and if I've missed your site out and you would like a link please let me know), but rather to provide a place for general ramblings about Farscape. This includes everything from trivia and plotholes, to analysis of themes and plot elements and speculation on where the story might have gone had there been a fifth season (and of course the fight for a season five has not yet been lost - go to SaveFarscape.com for info on how you can help). If you want to rant about something Farscape related yourself, hit the forums. I'd like to build this into a balanced site, so if you feel inspired to write a thoughtful essay of some sort and post it in the forums, I may well move it to the relevant section of the site itself (provided you agree, of course).

Currently there's not much on the site, but over the next few weeks I hope to be putting up some original Farscape wallpapers and short essays. For now, however, there is a Farscape trailer that you can download, made by yours truly. It consists of 92 clips (excluding the prolonged intro from Premiere) from 45 episodes, set in time (sort of) to the 1812 Overture. Much kudos to anyone who can name which episode each clip comes from! (Answers on a postcard - well, post them in the forum, and I'll let you know who gets it right...)

Finally, an especially big hello to anyone from the BBC board who happens to trundle over here - I have really enjoyed discussing (and arguing about) Farscape with you guys over the past couple of years.
Which do you think is the best season of Farscape?

    Season 1
    Season 2
    Season 3
    Season 4
